Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, founded in 1945 from the Azerbaijan branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, is the leading scientific institution of Azerbaijan and is based in Baku. It oversees fundamental and applied research through six scientific departments covering physical, mathematical and technical sciences, chemical sciences, earth sciences, biological and medical sciences, humanities, and social sciences. The academy supports more than thirty research and cultural institutes across the country. With around ten thousand staff including scientists and doctoral researchers, it promotes innovation, international collaboration, and scientific advancement to strengthen national development and global knowledge exchange.
