PROF. DR. STEFAN WOHNLICH is a Geologist who graduated from the University of Giessen and did his PhD from the University of Karlsruhe (now KIT, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Germany. From 1991 to 2002 he was University Professor of Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and then received the Chair of Applied Geology at Ruhr-University Bochum in 2002. Since 2016 I have been a visiting professor at the Universidad Nacional de San Juan/Argentina. My fields of scientific interest are general Hydrogeology, focussing on groundwater management, groundwater protection, and contamination as well as mine water and geothermal aspects of Hydrogeology. As the organizer of the annual International Summer School on Hydrology (IGSH) from 2005-2021, I maintain scientific cooperation with many countries throughout the world. In ongoing research, we focus on Africa (Ethiopia, South Africa, Senegal) and South America (Argentina, Chile).
Since Sept. 2023 I am a Seniorprofessor at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
