Dr. Laurent Bertino is an expert in data assimilation. He has a PhD in Geostatistics from the Ecole des Mines de Paris and expertise in numerical ocean and sea ice modelling using ensemble-based data assimilation techniques. He has been working at the Nansen Center since 2002 where he has set up the TOPAZ forecasting system using the HYCOM ocean model and the Ensemble Kalman Filter.
