Literature Review

The Global Heat Flow Database (GHFDB) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of data quality. To achieve this, we have implemented a rigorous literature review process that ensures all datasets are thoroughly vetted before being made publicly available. Das Geothermische Feld des Rieses (About the geothermal field of the Ries)

Ralph Haenel, Kurt Bram

Summary Temperature measurements carried out in the drillholes Fabrik Busse, Malzfabrik Nördlingen, …

Heat Flow in Back-Arc Basins of the Western Pacific

T. Watanabe, M. G. Langseth, R. N. Anderson

Summary A review of heat-flow data in trench-island arc and back-arc basins of the Western Pacific shows that for basins associated with current subduction at a trench, profiles of heat flow normal to tectonic trends have common features: 1) the zone from the trench axis to the volcanic zone has below average heat flow; 2) the volcanic zone has high but variable values; and, 3) the back-arc basins have mean heat flows that depend on age. Basins younger than Miocene have high heat-flow values. Scattered very low values suggest that water circulation within the young oceanic crust may be a …

Two heat flow values for Tasmania

E.B. Wronski

The terrestrial heat flux was determined at two sites in Tasmania. At Glenorchy (147° 15′ E, 42° 50′ S) it was 87 mWm−2 in a dolerite section centred at 350 m depth. At Olga Ridge (145° 47′ E, 42° 46′ S) it was 57 mWm−2 in a mudstone section centred at 250 m.
